Scenes of Serdica

Sofia, formerly known as Serdica, is a city whose history dates back to ancient times. The work was created during a stay in the Bulgarian capital and deals with the historical and architectural complexity of the city.

This past is still visible in many places - for example in the excavations uncovered directly next to underground stations or in the ruins under glass surfaces in the centre. At the same time, the city is characterised by monumental buildings from the socialist era, which, however, also show traces of time, as well as sacred architecture such as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which has become one of Bulgaria's most famous landmarks. The pictures show the simultaneity of fragment and monument, of urban movement and architectural duration.
